LET IT RAIN RED ROSES FOR ME (1968)
«Let it rain red roses for me, let all wonders come my way» When someone sings this, it sounds very self-glorifying
I wrote this in a moment of megalomania.” – said Hildegard Knef.
She simply wanted to express that it is perfectly fine to give yourself a little praise when you have mastered something difficult.
That the song could certainly be perceived as selfish was something Knef was aware of. The audience, however, found her words authentic and could identify with them. Anyone who had to endure as much in life as Hildegard Knef is certainly allowed to be a little selfish sometimes.
