Edith Piaf and some of her musicians wrote a song at a table in a brasserie on the Champs Élysées in Paris in 1946.
At first, Piaf found the melody ugly, but it became her greatest success.
The chanson has been translated into at least twelve languages.
Sung by Hildegard Knef and Ute Kemper in ‘SCHAU MICH BITTE NICHT SO AN’.
Used in at least 32 films:
Marlène Dietrich sang the song in the Hitchcock film “Stage Fright” and it can also be heard in “The Other Woman” from 2014.
