Dear friends of music,
It is a great pleasure for me to introduce myself to you as a troubadour with a repertoire that includes mainly French and German, but also English and Dutch songs.
For each song, I would be happy to briefly tell you its historical background. For some, this is a cultural discovery, for others a moment of dreaming and remembering.
My musical journey began in 2007 in a small restaurant in Brussels. My singing experience is based on my time in a strict boys’ choir. Soon I accompanied my mentor, the Eurovision candidate Manon Selyn (1968-2015), with my own repertoire to performances in retirement homes, at street festivals and at wedding celebrations in Brussels and Wallonia. I still cherish a grateful memory of her to this day.
After moving to Paris in 2009, I was individually coached by several professional singing teachers: Julien Nogues for singing technique, actress and mezzo-soprano Dorli Lamar for German songs and Mark Marian for the French repertoire. I use recordings of a song as an aid during rehearsals. My voice was neither remastered nor otherwise edited in the recordings.
I perform, among other places, in the “Gd. Hôtel de Roubaix” in Paris, where many German guests stay who encourage me to steadily expand my German repertoire. Meanwhile I sang from Schleswig to Nuremberg.
Singing has become my passion, and I look forward to inspiring you with old songs.
Sincerely,
Pieter
